PhoenixHalo · The weekly brief · Week of 2 November 2026

Two real launches — Copilot for finance and a Legal plugin for Word — while the money pages stayed still.

A PhoenixHalo brief — not a Microsoft publication. A short film and an audio file on what Microsoft changed in Copilot this week and what it means for your organization. Demo by request — https://phoenixhalo.com/demo/

What moved, and what it means for your organization

  1. Copilot for finance arrives in Excel and Cowork — finance skills and partner-built plugins · Confirmed on Microsoft's page
    • What it means for you: Your finance team gets purpose-built skills — some GA, some in Frontier preview, humans in control. Plan who gets access first, then widen on proof.
    • One thing to check: Confirm which finance skills are GA versus Frontier preview, and which group you would enrol first.
    • Microsoft's page: microsoft.com — Microsoft 365 blog, Oct 29, 2026 — 29 October 2026
  2. A Legal plugin for Word — 20+ legal skills, building on the former Legal Agent · Date on Microsoft's page — the reading is ours
    • What it means for you: Your legal team gets purpose-built help inside Word, plus partner plugins. Set who can reach it before you widen it across the firm.
    • One thing to check: Check whether the Legal plugin has reached your tenant yet, and decide which group should get it first.
    • Microsoft's page: techcommunity.microsoft.com — Copilot blog, Oct 30, 2026 — 30 October 2026
  3. Frontier expands to previews for Teams, new Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint — no Copilot license · Date on Microsoft's page — the reading is ours
    • What it means for you: More public previews to govern, admin-controlled and optional; unified admin-center management arrives November. Entitlement rerouted, not removed.
    • One thing to check: Review your Frontier enrollment settings and decide which previews, if any, to turn on for which groups.
    • Microsoft's page: Microsoft Tech Community — 26 October 2026
  4. Microsoft 365 E3 thirty-percent one-year offer (300+), available now through next June · Confirmed on Microsoft's page
    • What it means for you: A base-SKU promotion that feeds Copilot attach — not a Copilot price change. Plan the base before you widen Copilot on top.
    • One thing to check: If an E3 renewal or expansion is near, line the 300-seat one-year window up against your timing.
    • Microsoft's page: Microsoft Learn — 26 October 2026
